Golden GAC 800 Acrylic Polymer Craze Reducer

Golden GACs are made to be blended with Golden Acrylic Paints to extend the paint, regulate transparency, create glazes, increase gloss, reduce viscosity, or improve adhesion and film integrity. GAC polymers can also be used for binding pigment solids for various effects and surfaces. Unlike other Golden Mediums & Gels, GAC Acrylic Polymers have a minimum amount of thickeners, levelers, defoamers, and surfactants to ensure good film formation. The consistency of GAC polymers is very fluid and thinner compared to other Golden mediums. 

Each GAC product represents a unique polymer that offers specific attributes. Therefore, each GAC has its own unique benefits and applications.

Golden GAC 800 Acrylic Polymer Craze Reducer is excellent for reducing crazing and modifying paint for paint pouring techniques. Most fluid acrylic mediums will "craze" when applied 1/16” (1.5 mm) or thicker. Crazing is the formation of crevices or valleys that run through a pour/puddle caused by uneven shrinkage during the drying process. GAC 800 helps to minimize this problem. It is recommended to mix up to 10% GAC 800 as an extender to acrylic paint for pours or puddles.

GAC 800 dries to a smooth, level finish with good gloss and film flexibility. It is best when mixed with color as the binder dries with a slightly "hazy" quality if used alone. GAC 800 is also useful for adhesion to chalky surfaces.

Tip: GAC polymers are intended for use as binders, modifiers, or additives for acrylic paints. They are not intended for use as a final varnish. GAC polymers should be gently stirred or rocked back and forth prior to use, not shaken which may affect the transparency of the film causing a foggy or hazy quality.
