Gamblin Solvent-Free Fluid Medium

Gamblin Solvent-Free Fluid Medium is a painting medium made from safflower oil and alkyd resin with no solvent. This medium has a moderately fast drying rate and thin layers will be touch-dry in approximately 48-72 hours. Because Solvent-Free Fluid relies solely on oxidation to dry, it has a longer working time compared to Galkyd, which begins to tack up as the Gamsol content evaporates from the paint layers.

Solvent-Free Fluid increases the flow of oil colors off of the brush. In terms of its working properties, it is similar to either straight linseed or safflower oils, though faster drying. Brush marks will be slightly leveled, or rounded when using Solvent-Free Fluid and colors will be more transparent and glossy.

This solvent-free medium contains USA-grown safflower oil. Gamblin Solvent-Free Fluid is non-toxic and contains no Gamsol or petroleum distillates.

To paint solvent-free, we recommend Gamblin Safflower Oil for cleaning brushes while you are working.
