Jacquard Procion MX Dye is the backbone of the dye family. It is a high performing and versatile dye indeed. Colors are bright, true, and very washable. Procion MX Dye works on natural cellulose fabrics like cotton, linen, and rayon. It is the dye most used in tie dyeing or other direct dye techniques. It can also be used for immersion dyeing in a bucket or tub, or to dye a fabric completely in a washing machine. Jacquard Procion MX Dye is a cold water dye, no special tools or additives are necessary except soda ash, which helps to set the dye deep into the fibers of the material snug and permanent - not on the surface like some competitive dyes. Synthrapol is also recommended to give the fabric a nice clean wash before dyeing - it helps remove sizing, starch, and grease from a material that would inhibit the absorption of the color.
